| Abstract: | Статья представляет собой опыт рассмотрения ироничных высказываний о кандидате в президенты США Камале Харрис и попытку систематизации следующих видов иронии: «praise by blame», «blame by praise» и «praise with blame». Целью исследования было изучить прагматический потенциал иронии в процессе конструирования отрицательного образа политика. Материалом, отобранным для анализа, послужили статьи из качественной английской прессы The Guardian и The Independent, а кроме того американского новостного сайта The National Desk. Результаты нашего исследования могут использоваться для дальнейшей работы в рамках дискурс-анализа, функционирования коммуникативных и деструктивных стратегий, а также для производства и интерпретации политических образов |
| Abstract (in another language): | The article reviews ironic statements about the US presidential candidate Kamala Harris. We made an attempt to systematise the following types of irony: ‘praise by blame’, ‘blame by praise’ and ‘praise with blame’. The aim of the study was to examine the pragmatic potential of irony in the process of constructing a negative image of a politician. The material selected for the analysis were articles from the quality English press The Guardian and The Independent, as well as the American news site The National Desk. The results of our study can be used for further work in discourse analysis, the functioning of communicative and destructive strategies, along with the production and interpretation of political images |
