Abstract

This article discusses ways to improve the efficiency of passing individuals through the customs border. Customs services around the world face the need to simplify border crossing procedures due to the upsurge of international tourism. The purpose of the article is to evaluate the measures implemented by the customs service of the Republic of Belarus to facilitate border crossing procedures for individuals. The article outlines the practical experience of the canine service, the use of profiling techniques, and the introduction of electronic declaration. Considerable attention is paid to the analysis of attempts to introduce biometric technologies in the Republic of Belarus. In conclusion, the author suggests ways to expand the scope of application of information technologies in customs, whose introduction is likely to speed up the process border crossing for individuals and increase its efficiency
