Abstract: The possibility of generation of new type of optical-terahertz solitons by resonant optical rectification in quadratically nonlinear media is examined. The existence of various types of solitons is analyzed. Bound solitonic state of an optical laser pulse and a terahertz few cycle pulse becomes possible under condition of equality of the group velocity vg of optical pulse to the phase velocity vph of terahertz pulse. The conditions of soliton stability in bulk medium are discussed.
