LA ESTRATEGIA DOCENTE DEL PAPEL AL MINUTO APLICADA A MATERIAS DEL AREA DE ECONOMIA FINANCIERA Y CONTABILIDAD DENTRO DEL ESPACIO EUROPEO DE EDUCACION SUPERIOR

Abstract

The new context of European Higher Education Area (EHEA) gives prominence to the active role played by the student in the dual teaching and learning. This requires the development of new teaching methodologies that allow for incentives to participate in class in ways that strengthen student motivation and self-study. This communication discusses teaching techniques generally called “one minute papers” are based on magisterial lectures delivered using audio-visual aids such as blackboards, transparencies, video cannons, multimedia systems, etc. and, at the end of the lesson, asking the students to do a concise written exercise that consists of the following: a) Write a summary of the studied theme, emphasizing the main points covered or which is the main idea of the delivered lecture, b) Highlight the doubts and questions raised by the lesson received or the muddiest points after the lecture is finished, c) Answer short questionnaires to be previously used at the start of a new lecture or before the introduction of an idea or a new notion of certain importance. In this paper, an alternative version of these exercises will be presented. It is our main aim to present the results of an empirical study which shows the effectiveness of this strategy as a teaching technique for students. In order to evaluate this technique, we have carried out a test in a subject at Area Accounting and Finance the Escuela Universitaria de Estudios Empresariales (Vigo). On assessing the results, there seems to be an obvious unanimity among students when it comes to considering the technique of great utility.
