Abstract: | Prolonged ventilation with high oxygen supplementation is considered to be one of the initiating agents in tяhe development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia. The aim of the present research was to study the changes in phospholipid composition of surfactant, oxidative damage of lipids and proteins in bronchoalveolar space under prolonged experimental hyperoxia. The experiment was carried out using newborn guinea pigs exposed to hyperoxia for 3, 7 and 14 days. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid served as a subject for testing. A significant decrease of surfactant phospholipids, reduced activity of phos- pholipase A2, increased amounts of total protein, lipid and protein oxidation products in bronchoalveolar fluid have been shown under the influence of prolonged hyperoxia. Obtained results indicate the evident alterations in lipid and protein components of bronchoalveolar fluid under hyperoxia, that can contribute to the pathogenesis of bronchopulmonary dysplasia. |
