Abstract: The description of the processes occurring in the carbon erosion laser jets (ELJ) is devoted to a number of theoretical and experimental works, however, due to the complexity of the object of their study, the articles, as a rule, are somewhat one-sided, highlighting one or more of the many factors of this phenomenon. This work aims to study the processes of development and decay of carbon erosion torches, based on a vast array of experimental data and taking into account the mathematical model of the dynamics of torches, which is proposed by S. I. Anisimov and B. S. Lukyanchuk /3, 4/. An important role is given to the analysis of own empirical data of the study of spatio-temporal distributions of optical and electrical characteristics of the discussed processes.
