Abstract: W e provide a concise review of the problem of calculating the electrom agnetic field and radiation of a charged particle in the vicinity of a black hole. The interest in this problem has been revived due to recent progress in m ultim essenger observations. M any astrophysical m odels of energy extraction from a black hole involve consideration of such m otion and radiation. O ur m ain goal is to highlight the basic assum ptions and lim itations of various techniques and point out the m ain conclusions of these studies.
