| Abstract: | Особенностью полисемии в современном английском языке является относительная самостоятельность концептуальной внутренней формы слова – когнитивной модели, задающей единую внутреннюю смысловую структуру всех значений многозначной лексемы. Это обеспечивает высокую вариативность семантики слова в контексте и затрудняет выделение значений многозначной лексемы в лексикографии. В результате британские и американские лингвисты чаще говорят не о полисемии, а о лексической неопределенности |
| Abstract (in another language): | Polysemy in English is characterized by a relative independence of the conceptual inner form of the word – the cognitive pattern underlying the semantics of the polysemantic lexeme and common for all its meanings however different. This peculiarity of the semantic structure of the word accounts for a high degree of semantic variability in context and makes it difficult to draw a distinguishing line between different meanings in lexicography. As a result, British and American linguists tend to speak about lexical ambiguity rather than polysemy |
