| Abstract: | В статье анализируется оценка китайских либеральных интеллектуалов конца 1920–1930-х годов личности и взглядов Гу Хунмина (1857–1928). На материале статей, опубликованных в китайских англоязычных журналах «The China Critic» и «T’ien Hsia Monthly», автор приходит к выводу, что либеральные интеллектуалы высоко оценивали личность Гу Хунмина, его вклад в распространение знаний о Китае за рубежом. Однако либеральные интеллектуалы критикуют Гу Хунмина за однобокий подход к западной цивилизации, в чем видят главную причину непопулярности его идей в китайском общественно-политическом дискурсе 1920–1930-х годов |
| Abstract (in another language): | The article analyzes the assessment of Chinese liberal intellectuals of the late 1920–1930s of the personality and views of Gu Hongming (1857–1928). Based on articles published in Chinese English-language magazines «The China Critic» and «T’ien Hsia Monthly», the author concludes that liberal intellectuals highly appreciated the personality of Gu Hongming and his contribution to the dissemination of knowledge about China abroad. However, liberal intellectuals criticize Gu Hongming for his one-sided approach to Western civilization, which they see as the main reason for the unpopularity of his ideas in Chinese socio-political discourse of the 1920s–1930s |
