Abstract:	En el artículo se hace referencia al concepto de manual o libro de texto y se destaca la importancia que tiene en la enseñanza-aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras. Se proponen algunos criterios de análisis de manuals de lenguas extranjeras. Se aporta como novedad una distinción entre dos niveles de análisis: un nivel general, referido al manual en su conjunto; y un nivel más específico y particular que tiene que ver con las unidades o lecciones del manual que se toman para la muestra objeto de estudio. Finalmente se destaca la relevancia de estos criterios para la labor que desempeñan los docentes de lenguas fuera o dentro del aula, así como para los investigadores interesados en este ámbito de la lingüística aplicada a la enseñanza de lenguas
Abstract (in another language):	In this article the concept of textbook or books is discussed. Moreover, the importance which foreign language teaching and learning carry has been highlighted. Some criteria for the analysis of foreign language textbooks have been proposed. This provides as a novelty a distinction between two levels of analysis: an overall level, regarding the textbook as a whole; and a more specific and particular level, which has to deal with the units or lessons taken as samples aim of studying. The selection criteria for the exercises that build up the sample represent a contribution from this research. Finally, the relevance of these criteria stands out for the work carried out by language teachers inside or outside the classroom, hence the interested researchers in this applied linguistic teaching languages scope
