| Abstract: | Статья посвящена анализу важного для английской языковой картины мира концепта «викторианская мораль» и его репрезентации в художественном тексте XIX века. Проанализированы сюжеты некоторых произведений социальной направленности, раскрывающие сущность концепта. Рассмотрены лексемы джентльмен и леди, которые номинируют персонажей, отвечающих требованиям викторианского кодекса нравственности в то время, а также лексемы честность, воспитанность, достоинство, благородство (honesty, politeness, dignity nobility), относящиеся к оценке моральных качеств, поступков, поведения героев произведений Ч. Диккенса, У. Теккерея, Ч. Левера, Д.М. Мьюлок Кларк и др. |
| Abstract (in another language): | The article is devoted to the analysis of the concept of “Victorian morality” which is important to the English worldview, and its representation in the artistic text of the 19 th century. The plots of some social-orientated novels which reveal the essence of the concept are analyzed. The lexemes gentleman and lady are considered which nominate characters that meet the requirements of the Victorian code of morals at that time, as well as lexemes honesty, politeness, dignity, which describe moral qualities, actions, behavior of the characters in the works by Ch. Dickens, W. Thackeray, Ch. Lever, D.M. Mulock Clark, etc. |
