| Abstract: | Меркаванне пра тое, што горад Навагрудак быў першай сталіцай Вялікага Княства Літоўскага, мае сёння шырокую папулярнасць на Беларусі. Аднак ёсць усе падставы лічыць, што яна грунтуецца на гістарычнай легендзе. У артыкуле прасочаны працэс яе ўзнікнення і развіцця. Звесткі пра сталічны статус Навагрудка ўпершыню з’явіліся ў беларуска-літоўскім летапісанні ў 20-я гг. XVI ст. У далейшым легенда атрымала развіццё ў гістарычнай літаратуры і замацавалася ў грамадскай свядомасці. У чарговы раз яна была актуалізавана ў канцы XX ст. Нягледзячы на сваю папулярнасць, легенда аж да сённяшняга дня так і не знайшла ніякага сур’ёзнага фактычнага пацвярджэння |
| Abstract (in another language): | The opinion that the city of Navahrudak was a first capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania today is quite popular in Belarus. However, there is every reason to believe that it is based on a historical legend. The article traces the process of its emergence and development. Information about the capital status of Navahrudak first appeared in the Belarusian-Lithuanian chronicles in the 20s of the 16 th century. Further, the legend was developed in historical literature and was entrenched in the public consciousness. It was updated again at the end of the 20 th century. Despite its popularity, the legend has not yet found any serious factual confirmation to this day |
