| Abstract: | На сегодняшний день британская топонимика очень разнообразна. История возникновения английских топонимов достаточно сложная. На теперешний момент в топонимике сохранились многие названия географических объектов, которые либо забываются, либо со временем исчезают из употребления. Статья освещает наиболее актуальные трактовки определения топонимики, виды и источников топонимов. Подчеркивается ареал распространения топонимов на территории Англии. Кроме того, приводятся классификации топонимов и дается комплексный анализ происхождения топонимов. Значительное количество топонимов имеют древнеисландское происхождение, т.е имели скандинавские корни. Однако встречаются и такие слова, которые и вовсе не имеют точного происхождения. В современной лингвистике топонимы играют одну из ключевых ролей в отражении истории народа и освоения его территорий. |
| Abstract (in another language): | Today British place names are very diverse. The history of the emergence of English place names is rather complicated. At the present moment, many names of geographical objects have been preserved in toponymy, which are either forgotten or eventually disappear from use. In the article the most relevant interpretations of the definition of toponymy, types and sources of toponyms are highlighted. The area of distribution of place names on the territory of England is emphasized. In addition, the classification of toponyms is given and a comprehensive analysis of the origin of toponyms is given. A significant number of place names are of Old Icelandic origin, that is, they had Scandinavian roots. However, there are also words that do not have an exact origin at all. In modern linguistics, place names play one of the key roles in reflecting the history of a people and the development of the territories. |
