Abstract: | In 1791 the state reforms were introduced as part of the adoption of a constitution. Rzecz Pospcdita had been a confederation made up by the Great Principility of Lithuania and Poland. There hadn't been centralized government in Rzeczpospolita and the King and the Sejm hadn't had real power. Under the Constitution of 1791 legislative power was vested in the Sejm and executive power was vested in the Cabinet with the King at the head. From then on the confederation became a single federal state. Two states amalgamated as one. The rights of the common people were expanded creating conditions for further progress within the state |
