Летопись белорусской лимнологии

Abstract

Limnology as a field of geography started to develop in Geography Faculty in the 60-s. In early 70-s limnology developed at the Department of Earth Science and the Laboratory of Lake Research. About 600 major lakes of the Republic received complex estimate within the latest period, the data being collected in a three volume reference book "Lakes of Belarus". A number of research and development problems have been solved: inventarisation and registration of the basic lake fund of the Republic have been made. On the basis of paleogeographic methods the system of the evolution of Belorusian lakes was created. Natural and natural and economic classifications of lakes were developed. The issues of authropogenic eutrophisation and technogenic transformations of Iimnosystems were studied. The Government developed and approved the draft projects for creation of a number of landscape and hydrological (including lakes) nature reserves. 50 lakes in total are regarded as protected ones, some other issues were considered
