| Abstract: | In this article a semi-parametric class of skew-symmetric distributions is considered. We call this class as Power-Skew-Symmetric (PSS) distributions, being obtained by considering a positive power of a distribution function symmetric about 0. Based on U-statistics we develop two nonparametric tests for symmetry in the PSS class. Performances of the proposed tests are evaluated using efficacy and empirical power |
