А category of Definite and Indefinite in Russian and Polish is a semantic category. It is a linguistic universals. It reflects national circumstances, the mentality of peoples. The category Definite and Indefinite is expressed implicitly in Russian and Polish. However the means of expression of this category are expressed on the phonetic, lexical, morphological, syntactic levels. Accent-prosodic means of expression category (Phrase intonation) are center of the field of Definite and Indefinite in Russian and Polish. Center of pronominal form are indefinite and demonstrative pronouns. The texts of modern drama have a destruction of the opposition Definite and Indefinite. This category is one of the style-forming for poetic texts. The specificity of functioning of this category in newspapers depends on the genre newspaper text.
