dc.description.abstractProtective effect of various flavonoids (rutin, quercetin, dihydroquercetin, ECG) on methemoglobin formation in erythrocytes and their lysates caused by NaNO2 was studied. It was found that all flavonoids were effective in the protection of hemoglobin against NaNO2-Induced oxidation (quercetin < ECG < rutin < dihydroquercetin) but they did not possess the methemoglobin reductase activity. It was shown that incubation of red blood cells with quercetin, but not with other flavonoids, resulted in methemoglobin formation.ru
