Abstract: Hepatoprotective effect of vitamins Е, A and C against carbon tetrachloride toxicity was studied. Pretreatment of rats with vitamin complex (during 6 days) before carbon tetrachloride intoxication inhibited lipid peroxidation in liver by 46 %, decrease particularly serum LDH level but did not prevent the loss of P450-associated monooxygenase activities. The influence of vitamin complex on alcohol-induced changes in rat tissues was investigated. The results showed that cell numbers of thymus and peritoneal macrophages from the chronic alcoholic rats (100 мі/100д, during 12 days) were significantly more that values found in diet controls. Dietaryvitamins E, A and C can prevent the effects of chronic ethanol consumption on thymocytes. The present results indicated that the vitamins E, A and C recover partially the hepatotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride in rats and may be effective in the prevention chronic administration of EtOH induced influence on thymus gland.
