Дипломатические контакты Византии и Галицкого княжества во второй половине XII в.

Abstract

Охарактеризовано состояние дипломатических отношений между Византией и Галицким княжеством во второй половине XII в., определены факторы, сближавшие государства, описаны пути реализации взаимных договоренностей. Использован метод анализа и сопоставления данных о византийско-галицких посольствах второй половины XII в. в византийских и русских источниках. Рассмотрены две тенденции развития византийско-галицких отношений в ХІІ в.: 1) интенсификация контактов империи с Галичем и упадок отношений с Киевом; 2) объединение сил Галицкого княжества и Византийской империи против половцев. Сделаны выводы о том, что византийско-галицкие дипломатические контакты были нерегулярными, их предопределяла внешнеполитическая ситуация, а главной целью Византии являлось привлечение Галицкого княжества к ее поддержке в противостоянии Венгрии. Византийцы пытались балансировать между Киевом и Галичем, поэтому дипломатические миссии направлялись параллельно в обе столицы, но, опасаясь образования враждебной коалиции, Византия сближалась с Галичем как более вероятным партнером. = The purpose of the paper is to characterize the state of diplomatic relations between Byzantium and the Galician Principality in the second half of the XII century, to find out the motives, which pushed the states to rapprochement and in which way the mutual agreements were embodied. The methods of analysis and comparing data on the Byzantine-Galician embassies of the second half of the XII century in the Byzantine and Old Rus’ sources are used. There have been considered two trends of vision of the development of Byzantine-Galician relations in the XII century in the historiography: 1) the intensification of contacts of Empire with Galich and the decline of its relations with Kiev; 2) the Galician Principality became an ally of Constantinople against the Cumans. The research has led to the conclusions that Byzantine-Galician diplomatic contacts were irregular, predetermined by the foreign policy situation and were aiming to attract the Galician Principality to support Byzantium primarily in the confrontation of the Empire with Hungary. The Byzantines tried to balance between Kiev and Galich, therefore diplomatic missions were being sent simultaneously into the both capitals, but fearing of formation of the hostile coalition, Byzantium approximated to Galich as a more reliable partner.
