Abstract: The analysis of magnetic domain structures using optical and scanning microscopic images is described. These structures are often observed upon thin films being affected by magnetic fields. The described technique is grounded in the separation of objects into four structural types that are the basis of almost all patterns in an image. They are blobs, fronts, needles, and dendrites. The functions for analyzing these basic structures have been developed. For the description and classification of the structures, a set of specific characteristics for each structural type has been determined. A ZUBR system for magneto-optical image processing is briefly described
