| Abstract: | The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of the Belarusian and English idioms with metric semantics. A common characteristic of phraseological representation of the metric properties are non-standard characteristics of objects and gender stereotypes. National specific features are manifested in the divergence of objects for measurement, core components associated with ethno-cultural realities and metric prototypes. This diversity is determined by historical and geographical conditions of the environment of the Belarusians and the British. |
