Abstract

Irreversible changes of hydrological features of lake Orekhovskoye have occurred because of intensive hydromelioration of watershed of lake during the last 100 years. The most essential changes have take place during 1973-1975. Melioration resulted in the reducing of watershed area more than in 17 times (from 290.8 to 16.7 km2), decreasing of lake's depth (from 3.2 to 2.2 m) and area of lake (from 488 to 441 ha); the value of water has decreased by 10%. Hydrological changes became a reason of declining of water quality, worsening of oxygen saturation, increasing of water mineralisation (by 36%) and concentration of biogens, decreasing of water transparence (from 1.3 to 0.4 m). The water blooming, decreasing of species diversity and fish productivity is registered.
