Abstract: Presented system enlarges free space on the desktop by dynamically compressing part of the selected window. Compression is activated by dragging window towards the screen edge. "Twisted" window thus has reduced height or width, while still readable and usable. Due to mouse events polling twisted area of the window moves inside the window rectangle to avoid mouse pointer thus not preventing normal mouse interaction with the application controls. Software implementation is based on the Compiz window manager. The feature should be especially usable on netbooks for their reduced vertical screen resolution.
