Angular, spectral, and polarization properties of radiation emitted by high-energy electrons passing through a layer of matter

Abstract

The angular, spectral, and polarization characteristics of photons generated by a particle ping through a layer of matter are determined. It is shown that in the high-energy limit the contribution made to the radiation intensity by multiple scattering is proportional to the mean squared scattering angle. A kinetic equation is obtained for the electron with allowance for the energy lost in the radiation process
