Abstract

The aim of the academic discipline is to systematize the methods, instruments of fact-checking and verification in journalism as a basis for preventing the mass dissemination of false information (fake news) in the media space. Tasks of the academic discipline: 1. To familiarize graduate students with the ontological properties and types of fact-checking; models for establishing the reliability of a fact, the limits within which a journalist is able to verify a fact as true or false; factors influencing the dissemination of unreliable information. 2. To train master's students in the principles, methods and tools of fact-checking and verification in journalism as a basis for countering the spread of disinformation, fake news, and deepfakes. 3. To provide master's students with practical skills in working with different types of information sources and automated fact-checking systems.
