Abstract: The present article is devoted to the legal foundations for the European Communities activities. The author attempts to explore the content of the underlying principles of the EC Law: the principle of the supremacy of the EC law over the international law of the member-states and the principle of direct action of the norms of the EC Law on the territory of the member-states. The article pays great attention to the analysis of the well-known rulings of the EC Court which, in fact, have strengthened the above mentioned principles and contributed to their further use in practice. The article also explores the role and significance of the fundamental principles of EC Law in the sphere of international relations regulation within the framework of European Communities.
