Abstract

"Some Aspects of the Activity of the Belarusian Foundation "Mutual Understanding and Reconciliation" in 1993—1997" The article makes an attempt to study the 1993—1997 activities of the Belarusian foundation "Mutual Understanding and Reconciliation", set up in accordance with the four-sided agreement between Germany, Belarus, Russia and Ukraine in March, 1993. The provisions of the agreement stipulated the compensation payments by the German side to the persons currently living on the territory of the former USSR, who were persecuted by the nazi regime during World War II. To implement these objectives the foundation "Mutual Understanding and Reconciliation" was established by the decision of the government of Belarus. During four years of its activity the foundation has implemented the main tasks set to it. The activity of the foundation has a great importance for moral and material support of the citizens of Belarus who suffered persecution on the part of the fascist regime and it was an important factor in the relations of Belarus and Germany in the 1990s.
