The Shchorsy estate of the Khreptovich family as a place to preserve the historical memory of the Belarusian people

Abstract

The article reveals the importance of preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the Shchorsy estate of the Khreptovich family. The author provides evidence that this estate was one of the most advanced on the territory of Belarus at the end of the XVIII – second half of the XIX centuries. Special attention is paid to the famous Shchorsy library and the fate of the book collection. As a result, the author comes to the conclusion that the manor in Shchorsy is a unique monument of the palace and park culture of the XIX century. It is of indisputable importance for the preservation of the historical past of the Belarusian people and is promising for restoration. The article is recommended for students, researchers, as well as for anyone interested in the history of manor complexes on the territory of Belarus
