| Abstract: | The article explores the first economic and currency union in history. Its formation had some peculiarities which during the whole process contributed to the development of new approaches to its functioning. Genesis of formation of currency unions is especially topical today at the formation of new approaches to the optimization of currency zones in the international economy, especially in the Postsoviet economic area of the CIS countries. |
