Abstract: The theoretical three-component model for the international choice of enterprise locations based on collected location decisions in CEE and CIS countries for automobile industry is verified. The most important factors of location choice for each component in the model are the motives of FDI — monopolistic advantage, chances of privatization; the advantages of location — the labour, protectionism, potential of the automobile market; the specifics of the company — the specifics of the management, willingness to take risks, corporate strategy of internalization.
