| dc.description.abstract | Статья посвящена актуальности профессии шрифтового дизайнера в наши дни и в ближайшем будущем. Шрифтовой дизайн является смежной отраслью науки и искусства, переживающей на данный момент принципиальные изменения, связанные с глобальной компьютеризацией и распространением цифровых технологий. Статья выполнена на основе книги «Философия дизайна Германа Цапфа. Избранные статьи и лекции о каллиграфии, шрифтовом дизайне и типографике». В статье проведен сравнительный анализ процесса создания шрифтов в эпоху металлического набора и в эпоху фотонабора, рассмотрен перечень основных компетенций современного шрифтового дизайнера и актуализирована необходимость новых шрифтовых разработок высокого эстетического уровня. Работа акцентирует внимание на проблеме «визуального мусора» и ставит своей целью подчеркнуть важность хорошей типографики как одной из составляющих формирования общей визуальной культуры в современном обществе. | - |

Font design is a related branch of science and art, currently undergoing fundamental changes associated with global computerization and the spread of digital technology. The article has been written using the book «Herman Zapf & His Design Philosophy. Selected Articles and Lectures on Calligraphy and Contemporary Developments in Type Design, with Illustrations and Bibliographical Notes, and Complete List of His Typefaces». The article compares the process of creating fonts in the era of metal typing and in the era of photo typing; it reviews core competencies of a modern font designer; it explains the need for new font designs of a high esthetic level. We emphasize the issue of “visual garbage” and the importance of good typography as one of the components of a common visual culture in modern society. | - |
