Abstract: The presence of polymethine dyes, photosensibilizers having absorption and fluorescence into the transparency region of biological tissues, may be detected down to 1.5 cm from the surface of the animal body. When introduced in the ratio 1 ÷ 2 mg/kg, the fluorescence intensity registered from the body surface for the polymethine dyes under study is directly proportional to their concentration in the tumor nodes and muscles. The changes in the fluorescence intensity during scanning over the tumor node surface are indicative of the presence of regions with inhomogeneous dye distribution.
