Abstract

The object of research represents the problems of requiem mass genre in the context of its historical development and current existence, and the subject of research is the composition «Requiem aeternam in Princess Galyani Vadhana’s memory» (2008) written by outstanding Russian composer Boris Tishchenko. The purpose of the work is identification of genre, dramaturgy, and musical style features of this composition from the standpoint of canonical and individual characteristics in Tishchenko’s solution of requiem mass genre. The work aims to intensify interest in Tishchenko’s late period of creativity which is explored insufficiently nowadays. The original composer’s approach to «Requiem aeternam» cycle organization lets adjust the modern typology of requiem mass genre
