Влияние основных параметров относительной макроглоссии на формирование мезиального прикуса

Abstract

Macroglossia is one of the etiological agents of the Class III malocclusion development. The aim of the research was to investigate the clinical diagnosis methods of the relative macroglossia morphofunctional criteria, leading to the Class III malocclusion development. As the result of our study it has been estimated, that the most specific diagnostic clinical signs of the relative macroglossia are as follows: longitudinal and transverse grooves on the upper surface of the tongue, crenations on the lateral surface of the tongue, chronic interocclusal position of the tongue, buccal tipping of the upper posterior teeth and accentuated curve of Spee in the maxillary arch. In this study there have been also illustrated statistically significant differences of dentition and tongue morphometrical parameters of 8 patients with Class III and 12 patients with Class I malocclusion. This approach to the tongue size diagnosis could be used by the orthodontist for selecting the most effective method of the orthodontic treatment of patients with relative macroglossia
