Abstract

This paper represents an attempt to examine quite a number of questions, connected with national self-determination of Ivo Andrić and his views on ethnical conflicts, which have been reflected in his works, primarily in the novel "The bridge on the Drina". Writer’s conclusions may be considered as a significant vision that can make a contribution to the development of modern interethnic affairs, and it determines necessity of further studies of Andrić’s creativity. This work represents comprehensive "side view", having in mind that the author is from Belarus and at the same time member of younger generation, formed after the collapse of the USSR and former Yugoslavia
