| Abstract: | Исследование концепта «счастье» на основе словарных дефиниций и материала пословиц русского и английского языков позволило выявить существенные различия в понимании счастья в славянской и англоязычной культурах. Славяне являются в большей степени фаталистами, англичане – более рациональны и считают, что к счастью нужно стремиться и достигать его. Большая часть современной белорусской молодежи (как показали результаты опроса) считает себя счастливой. |
| Abstract (in another language): | The research of the concept “happiness” on the basis of dictionary definitions as well as Russian and English proverbs helped to identify distinctive differences in happiness understanding of Slavic and English-speaking cultures. The Slavic people are fatalists to a larger extent, the Englishmen are more rational and consider it is necessary to strive for happiness to reach it. The biggest part of modern Belarusian youth (according to a conducted survey) consider themselves happy people. |
