Phytopathogenic bacterium Erwinia carotovora subsp. atroseptica (Eca) is the causative agent of two diseases resulting in the major losses of potato crops, blackleg and soft rot. It is known that host plants react to a pathogen infection by producing several phenolics compounds. These compounds play an important role in host defense reactions namely systemic acquired resistance and hypersensitivity response. The aims of this research were studying the effects of plant phenolics on Eca growth and production of extracellular enzymes known to be main virulence factors of this bacterium.ru
