Abstract: In the article theoretical aspects of research of hemispheric asymmetry are presented. Overview of the most commonly used models of differentiation of individual profiles of hemispheric asymmetry is provided. The methodology for identifying profiles of asymmetry on the basis of T.I. Teterkina’s development is given in detail. The results of diagnostics of school students and correlation of the calculated parameters of motor and sensory laterality and profile of asymmetry with academic performance are analyzed. Individual profile of hemispheric asymmetry of school students of 14-15 years strongly correlated with academic performance in basic school subjects – mathematics, physics and Russian language. The degree of predominance of the right hand is positively correlated with academic performance in Russian language; the degree of predominance of the right ear is negatively correlated with academic performance in all three school subjects.
