Abstract: The manuscript defines a role of university lecturer’s Professional Self-Concept in developing strategy of coping with professional crises. It has been viewed the key approaches toward understanding and coping with crisis of professional development. The main idea entails theoretical foundation of structural and functional model of professional crisis coping by the university instructors. It has been proved that the structural elements of the model are the blocks of such variables as «Factors Provoking Crises», «Factors Coping with Crises», «Professional Self-Consciousness» and «Affective Component». The paper represents the results of empiric research of factors provoking crises and factors coping with crises by the university lecturers. The conclusions contain definition of the role of professional Self-Concept of the university teaching staff in the developing strategy of professional crises coping in conditions of higher education transformation. It has made clear that given characteristics of professional self-consciousness appeared to be protectors which provide university staff sturdiness to negative influence of professional crises.
