Abstract

From the "Survey on Technological Innovation 1998-2000" we developed a database of Spanish manufacturing firms engaged in innovation. Using univariate statistical tests, we contrast if a positive relation exists between the degree of technological complexity of the sectors aeronautical, automotive, naval and graphical and the degree of participation of the companies in the systems of public support to the innovation. Furthermore, also we contrast the existing relation between size of the companies and his degree of participation in the programs of public support to the innovation. The contrasts show that business size and belonging to the sector of the automotive support a positive significant relation, whereas for the graphical sector the above mentioned relation, though significant, it is negative. The sectors aeronautical and naval exhibit a positive relation, though statistically not significant.
