Cultural realities in Chinese parables: problems of translation into English and Russian

Abstract

This article is devoted to the problems of translating cultural realities met in Chinese parables into English and Russian. These difficulties appear because of the cultural specificity of the Chinese nation, their worldview and linguistic peculiarities. In the article the definition of cultural realities is given, several main problems of this process are considered and there are described a few ways how to cope with it and make the translation as clear and understandable as it's possible. There are presented some striking examples of translating Chinese realities into Russian and English.
