= The article shows how the ancient ideas of love were transformed in the medieval culture. Grounds are given to the judgment that in the context of West-European medieval period a Neo-platonic model of the world is filled with a new meaning: the vector «from bottom to up» is interpreted as love for the Absolute, and the vector «from up to bottom» – as the paternal love of God to creature. Some cultural trends displacing love between man and woman to the negative pole of medieval axiological scale are considered. |
