Abstract: The paper reviews the development of the electrochemical techniques for michroheterogeneous systems investigation based on the application of the virtual electrochemical instruments. The computer programs of the virtual instruments employ the signal processing and real-time control capacity of the modern general purpose Intel processors that result from their advanced architecture. The programs run in the real-time system installed under Windows environment and provide the efficient real-time control of the electrochemical experiment, analysis of the acquired data and graphical visualization of the computed relationships that characterize the investigated material. The advantages of the virtual electrochemical instruments over the common automated equipment are explained in detail by the example of a new potentiodynamic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technique that provides simultaneous investigation of the electrochemical impedance dependence on the electric current frequency and electrode potential.
